Do you know who the teacher of the week is? Coach Shedd is the teacher of the week. Coach Shedd is a math teacher here at Pickens County High School, he's also the assisstant football and basketball coach. Ms. Stalloworth and he are over track. Coach Shedd has loving a wife and three kids. "Coach Shedd is an awesome person to be around. I love his class and his coaching skills." stated a student here. Coach Shedd has taught at other schools, but he enjoys his time here. "Mr. Coach Shedd is a tough teacher. You have to keep your head in the books and pay attention to pass the class. This book is about a girl who has trouble losing weight, finding friends, and finding love. Her mom is suffering from Hodgkins disease,cancer, and she feels like fingers are being pointed at her.This book is one of those relaxing, calm books. It takes you to a different place, and I do recommend you read it.

"The Bad"

Forever

This book is about two people who meet and fall in love. They think their love is sure to last "forever." The book goes into detail about a lot of things. Parents complained about the book because it encouraged young people in sexual contact and using the "pill." Sorry 7th and 8th graders, it's a blue dot book.

"The Ugly"

Taming of the Shrew

This book is written in play form. If you have ever seen and liked 10 Things I Hate About You then you would like the movie. The book is about these guys who pay a guy to date a shrew,mean cruel person. The dudes are trying to get the shrew married so they can date the sister. In order to do this they had to pay somebody and they pretended to be teachers, They get into this whole big mix up because the youngest sister only wanted to date one of them. I recommend this book to anybody that would like to read it, but make sure you have at least 10 or 15 more people with you.

Pickens County High School has a champion basketball team, but we have new coaches(who are doing great at their job). Some of the students here were wondering what to look foward to this year. I took the time out to ask the coaches.

"We have a good a chance at being the champions again. All the boys have to do is keep their head in the game."

Coach Shedd
"Nothing much has changed as far as the opponents. The southern teams are a little stronger, but that isn't going to stop the F5 Tornadoes."

"If the defense keeps on playing the way they are, we look at a good chance. They just have to leave the attitudes and trouble where it is"

OMG...I picked up the library phone to find Ms. Elkeles on the line telling me that PCHS has won a Skype visit for our school. PCHS has won a Skype visit from the author of our very favorite Rules of Attraction SERIES! Details on the day and time will come later when I set up the meeting with her assistant. I was SO excited I ran out of the library hooping and hollering, scaring the office staff, Mr. Woods, and Mrs. Duke (sorry guys). She is also going to send us some posters for giveaways!!!!! WooHoo, WooHoo, WooHoo....If you have not read this series come by the library and put your name on hold for them. I am not sure how many students will be able to attend the Skype visit, but I will make sure that everyone has a fair chance to come...WOOHOO...did I tell you how excited I am? Miss T

Are you aware of our school being broken into? Well, some of us are and we are afraid. "This school means a lot to us and we would hate to see it being stole from." said one of the students here. Well, speak up and be heard. No one here would like it if someone stole from their house, so don't steal from our school. The consequences for a minor, in some cases, is juvenile detention. If you know who has done this, then tell on them. If you know that someone did this, in court you are guilty by association. Which means you can be charged for knowing and not telling. Breaking and entering is not funny and it is a serious crime. Speak up and be heard because what goes around comes around and you wouldn't want to be hit pretty hard. As a student of Pickens County High School I vow to always to stand up for my school no matter what. Call me what ever you want but I refuse to go to jail for your crime.

October 1
Running through the darkness, the frigid teeth of the night sinking into my skin,
freezing my core. The icy needles that I desperately breathed in stabbed unmercifully at
my lungs. Blood flowing freely from various wounds that I have no memory of acquiring.
No sound could be heard except a deafening pound in my eardrums. Is there a reason I’m
running? Is there a reason that now that I’ve stopped I can no longer remember? I turn
around to be greeted by nothing but the dark of the night. I blink in this eternal abyss.
When I open them I find myself awake in my apartment, drenched in sweat. Just
another dream. They’ve been increasing in number over the last few weeks. Because of
them, sleep has become something done with a morbid curiosity; an apprehension that I
can’t quite describe.
Journal Entry 2
October 13
I woke up to a sharp pain in my back. When I got out of bed I could feel the blood
flowing down to the floor. I looked into the mirror at the mutilated flesh that was my
back. Before I had the chance to wash away the blood it was already gone; all of it. No
blood, no wounds – Nothing.
Time to get dressed.
Journal Entry 3
October 17
The visions have gotten worse. The dreams are no longer confined to my sleep,
not that I’ve been able to anyways. I’ve begun to black out for extended periods now. I
can no longer eat.
October 21
In the darkness I could see them, their distorted silhouettes moving towards me
with a primal hunger, an unbound desire. I collapsed – they were closing in. The bus’s
brakes screeched as it stopped in front of my complex. I was home.

Whenever I close my eyes I can still hear their frantic footsteps getting closer –
Their endless chanting.
October 24
The blood that was my gloves kept my hands pleasantly warm on such a cool
October evening. The crumpled body beside me was such good company. I brushed its
hair back, away from those blank lifeless eyes. When I gazed into them I could see
myself staring right back. I spit into the sink and rinsed out my mouth.
October 31
As they flailed my back I could see the blood pool around my knees. The torches
burned with a fire that cackled at the act; cackled at my pain and my tormenters ecstasy -
my ecstasy and their torment. As the blood from gnashing my teeth and the tears I so
freely wept coalesced, I looked up at the masks. The masks that wielded the object of my
punishment (or was it my reward?) laughed at the spectacle with affixed smiles and pairs
of eyes that reflected the act, the torches, the hell.... that was my heaven.

The Shadow
I hear the click of a door opening and footsteps tread across the room. Anxiety pounds in
my chest as I lay still and breathless. I know it is him before he even speaks. I feel his presence, much like a fleeting glimpse of a phantom. I cherish his visits as if every one were the last. “Drink this, my darling,” he says, his words like silk f low ing from his lips. I comply and sip the vile liquid he holds to my mouth. It is my medication. He says it will help me. He says that being locked in this room upstairs will he lp me as well. I can only hope he is right. He smiles down at me. “Get some rest dear,” he whispers, caressing my face. I drift off to sleep with the gentle touch of his f ingertips. When I awake, it is not yet dawn. The night’s sounds echo outs ide. I try to distract myself by looking out the window. Moonlight illuminates the outside, freeing it from its prison of darkness, creating shadows that threaten to consume the light. A movement in the shadows catches my eye. It is the size of a human. I scream for my husband. He pounds up the stairs and throws open the door. I meet his embrace, close to hysterics. “There is someone outside.” He soothes me into a calmer state, “What did you see?”
“It was large, like a human.” He quickly tucks me back into the bed and leaves the room. Minutes later, he returns. “I found nothing. No trace of an animal or human. You were only seeing things , dear. It was only a shadow.”
The Shadow, as my husband referred to it, continued to appear every night. I would wake
up and convince myself to glance out the window. There it stood, getting closer and closer to the window each night. I would call out to my husband, and he would come, only to assure me that it wasn’t real. But I was convinced it was. In culmination of the many sleepless nights spent in my conf inement , I finally caught a glimpse of the figure’s face. At first, I surmised that a cloak covered this intruder when a beam of moonlight struck its grotesque face. It’s horrid, the sunken eyeless sockets, the slits of a nose , much like that of a snake’s. I yell for my husband, just as before. There is something amiss and I realize that his footsteps are slower, more composed. My frantic breaths and sobs prevent me from screaming out for him to hurry to me, save me, but my efforts are in vain. The footsteps stop outside the door. The door flings open and there stands the gruesome creature, the incarnation of death himself. His dreadful arms arise, as if he is a lover attempting to embrace me. My husband says it is only my imagination. It is not real. It is not real. The creature enfolds me in his arms. I struggle. I kick and push, twisting and turning until I f inally free myself. I glance around the room to f ind something to use as a weapon. A bed and chair is the only furniture in my room. An idea forms in my head. I pick up the chair, and shatter the window. Shards of glass fly, scattering on the floor. I grasp the largest, sharpest piece. I have never killed anyone. But as I looked into the demonic eyes of the creature when I stabbed it, I did not think of myself as a murderer. The creature collapsed and I stood motionless, panting, with blood dr ipping from my hand where the glass had cut me. I finally muster enough courage to look down.
The crumpled, bloody body of my husband lay at my feet.

My scary story

Once upon a time there was a boy named Bobby Allen Cheeks.He was the new kid in this school called Todd Duffy Middle school.Bobby was the type that every body picked on becouse of who he was,they called him names some of the bigger kids punched and kicked him.Bobby was tired of the kids picking on him, so he decided to tell his princaple he told him he would handle it but he did it the wrong way. One day he was walking home from school and the older kids jumped him,they broke his neck and jaw. Bobby was supposed to stay in the hospitol for three weeks but he died on his second week there. Once the other kids heard that he had died they started to worry,they thought his parents would call the police and have them thrown in jail. After his funeral the older kids said they would never speak of this moment or Bobby every again.It was about a month after Bobbies death and every thing was back to normal, the older kids moved on with their lives just as every body else did, nobody thought nothing else of Bobby. People had been saying that they could hear Bobbie's scream on the street ,but everybody thought it was just a lie. So one of the older kids said they'd check it out after school. Later that day he was walking on deaths street which is the street where Bobby was jumped.He sat there and sat there, He didn't see anything so he decided to leave, but just as he turned around Bobby was right behind him. The next day the other kids wondered where their friend was,an soon the found out he had been beat to death but there was no evidene to find out who did it. Some of the kids assumed that Bobbie's ghost or someone that wanted revenge for his death did it. Some said that he was jumped by
someone else and some say Bobbie's ghost did it. Some of the kids were scared to go on the street, and some wanted to see if the myth was true. The ones that did never came back.Scence there were so many deaths on the street they closed the street an the people that lived there had to leave there homes and find new places to live. But for the kids that picked on little Bobby...know he is waiting on you to visit deaths street.

The Dotson family vs. the ware wolf family!!

It’s starting to get cold at nights. But is it cold enough for the Dotson family? I suggest it is not seeing how we are doing a camping trip the week of October 31, 2011. We want to go to the majestic jungle. The majestic jungle is in South America.
It is nothing but jungle and woods for many, many miles. We are a family of four that is going. Mom is Janna, Dad Jeff, Brother Brian, and of course me the youngest child Chris. Jeff is planning on taking the 1987 Mustang. He took ten years to restore it back to meant condition. It is blue with red paint stripes down both sides. It’s a two door vehicle, which of course are butterfly doors.
“Ring, Ring, Ring!!” Janna turns over and looks at the alarm clock. She then hits the snooze button and rolls back over. “Ring, Ring, Ring!!” she turns over and sees that the alarm reads 5a.m. She turns the alarm off and gets up out of bed. It is now 5:30am, and she is waking up the rest of our family.
Our entire family is up now and Brian and I are about done packing our stuff. Jeff has a good bit of stuff he has to get packed for the trip. Mom is done packing and is cleaning the car out. Brian and I finished packing and now helping mom pack the car down. The last thing we packed was dad’s bags. The clock is now showing 7am, as mom cooks a fast breakfast. We finish eating and our now ready to hit the road.
Dad begins to drive to the special airport. The special airport is the only one who carries’s people to the majestic jungle. As well they let Dad’s mustang ride on a plane created for carrying vehicles. We arrive finally at the airport at 12:30p.m. We get on our plane at 1:10p.m. Jeff and we arrive at the majestic jungle at 12a.m. camp gets completely set up by 1:30a.m.
The interesting thing is that at 1:30am, it is already light here. We go wondering around the jungle. Brian realizes that dad is missing, and is now hearing ware wolfs. Mom remembered that she saw dad’s pistol when she was unpacking. All of us decide to go get it for safety. Brian makes a fire and mom is making smores.
It is now getting dark and there is no sign of Jeff anywhere around. The sound of the ware wolfs comes back but a lot closer now. I hear something in the leaves and yell for it comes into sight. It finally comes into sight and was shocked by what we’re seeing! It is dad going through the process of becoming aware wolf. Mom is really upset and amazed by upset that she is seeing her husband like this.
Jeff comes and sits down beside the fire. Thirty-minutes after his arrival we hear ware wolfs and now they’re coming for us. We left dad at the fire and headed to the Mustang. Mom put everything except the pistol in the Mustang. I and Brian were given the job of watching for the ware wolfs. Brian spotted a group of ware wolfs!! We loaded the pistol and began shooting. By now we have killed ten.
We keep loading the pistol and shooting. A man with a long black beard and a rifle comes out the woods at our right side. It’s about 12am the day after Halloween. The man with the rifle begins to help kill the ware wolfs. In an hour we are trapped by ware wolfs all around us. Suddenly we hear something flying and are now stuck between ware wolfs and vampires.
The vampires are killing the ware wolfs amazingly fast and easy. All but one ware wolf is left now. I notice it’s dad but before I can do anything the vampires get him. I wave a final wave to my dad as he waves back and falls to the ground. Me and Brian decide to go back home with the Mustang. When we arrive at the house nothing within the house is different.
When we wake up in the morning dad and mom are down stairs eating breakfast. We tell them about the trip and we get informed that we were having horrible nightmares. It is Halloween and we are headed to our church for trunk or treat. It is where church members bring their cars in put candy in the trunk for kids to come get. I want all the candy I can get. I love candy as much as I love my brother. \
We arrive at the church and notice that one of our church members was the dude with the rifle. We go and talk to him for awhile. We get informed that not only did he have the same dream but also have marks and scratches on his body. Me and my brother go to the restroom and look on our bodies and realize that we to have mark and scratches. It is now scaring us that we had same dreams but also have marks and scratches. We go back to the man and tell him we have marks and scratches. Then he points out the fact that all three of our marks and scratches look the same.
We will never know if mom and dad had the dreams as well. But we also know that is really don’t matter because something is up with us and the other man. We had the same dreams and same marks and scratches. We will never know if mom and dad know what is going on. But we understand that we are never telling anybody about this again. But from us to you this is top secret stuff. Please tell nobody or we will to be in your dreams. Have a Happy Halloween!!

On Monday was Jersey Day, Tuesday was Nerd Day, Wednesday was 70's Day, Thursday was Light It Up, and Friday was School Spirit Day. We had a lot students to participate. As a student at Pickens County High School, member of Band, Choir, Broadcasting, Book Club, and Online Newspaper Staff I'd like to thank those of you who tool time out to be apart or this week. "TESTING"

As we all know we have been taking Star Math, Star Reading, and graduation exams (AHSGE). Well, do you know why you take these tests? You take the graduation exam to better you off in the future. Star Math and Star Reading are taken to show the state, school board, and etc. how well you do in reading and math. So, when you take the AHSGE you have plenty of time left to take it until you're a senior. If you fail the exam, in the 12th grade, you come to try to pass again, in order to graduate. Star Reading scores are very low. It doesn't look good for the school or for you. If you love to read then why do the state, school board, and etc. think you're reading on a lower level than usual? Come on at least try to pass this test. When you do not pass it you put yourself in intervention. Star Math is just the same as Star Reading. If you know you have people who just can't do it, reach out a hand and help them out. Whether you like them or not. If we all pitch in and try to help each other maybe we could better around the next time. Thanks for all your time.

Who is Mr. X?
Hello, I’m Mr. X. Just because I have Mr. in my name doesn’t mean I’m a guy. I could be a
boy or girl. I’ve been at this school a long time so I’ve read a lot of books. I was asked by Miss T to read and give my opinion on books. So I’ll give reports and tell you what I think. “The Good”
CHAIN REACTION This is the 3rd installment of the “Perfect Chemistry” novels. The author of this book is
Elkeles. Just like the others it is a true love story. It’s a girl and guy type of book. It’s full of drinking, extreme violence, sex, drugs use, and gang violence, so sorry to the younger kids. It’s a blue dot that means ONLY 9th-12th graders can read this book, but you need to read them in order to actually get the meaning
of the book.

“The Bad”
Maximum Ride: Fang Though, I put it as bad that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s very good book. We join 5 lovable winged heroes in another journey to save the world. The book is full of tricks, smart teens,
and a blind guy that cooks, cleans and build bombs! Want to know how? Pick up and read Fang today. This is 5th installment of the maximum ride novels. It’s a book for 7th – 12th.

“The Ugly”
Twisted Though the first two book’s in the famous Intertwined novels were very good. The 3rd
installment of the books was not that good to me. Though that means I don’t like it, don’t mean you won’t. So pick up twisted and start reading today! This also a blue dot, so, sorry 7th and 8th graders, it’s only for 9th – 12th graders.

Any game should start like any other game. But, this game was filled with fights, hookups and craziness. September 9, 2011, Pickens County High School prepares to face Keith High, with a starring touchdown from Pickens and the score lands 7 to 0 in the starting region. But, outside the field their was spirit running up and down bleacher to bleacher. Also, the food was great. It might’ve been too high but the money was worth spending. Through the night things started to get intense between the boys, as you should know their was a fight that ended in two fellows getting taken to jail. But that one incident didn’t stop everyone from having fun. Our game was a success as usual through the last quarter the game was 47 to 0 and their was no way Keith could catch up in the end. The team celebrated with a cheering victory on the field now that’s a home game play. If you want to see more of the craziness joy us next time at our home game PICKENS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL VS. ALICEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL... BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Raiders Salute ALL Heroes at MUW

The Red Raider band, under the guidance of Mr. Archibald, traveled to MUW in Columbus to play the National Anthem at the Saluting ALL Heroes 9/11ceremony. All branches of the military plus local heroes such as Border Patrol, Police and Firemen were celebrated. All members of the Red Raiders had a very enjoyable time and thank the University for allowing them the privilege to play.
